Custom websites engineered to rank, convert, and last.

Custom-built websites that look like your business, show up when buyers Google your services, and stay yours forever. No website-builder templates. No proprietary platform you can’t leave. The technical work that makes Google and customers find you is built in from day one — not sold as an upsell later.

What’s actually broken with most agency web design

YOU PROBABLY RECOGNIZE THIS

After 11 years building custom sites for South Florida businesses, we see the same four failure patterns. One of these is almost certainly the reason your current site isn’t pulling its weight.

Beautiful site. Dead phone.

Your last redesign looked stunning in the launch screenshot and ranks for nothing. The agency optimized for the portfolio shot, not for the keyword that pays your bills. SEO was an upsell. CRO was an upsell. Now you’re spending Ads dollars to drive traffic to a brochure.

“Why is the prettiest site we’ve ever had bringing in the fewest leads?”

You don’t actually own your site.

Page-builder lock-in (Elementor, Divi, Wix). Proprietary CMS the agency “manages.” When you fire them, you lose the site. When they raise prices, you pay. When they go out of business, you start over. This is a hostage situation dressed up as a service.

“Wait — we can’t move our site if we wanted to?”

Six months in. Still not launched.

Discovery calls became Slack threads. Revisions stacked. Scope crept. The site that was supposed to ship in 8 weeks is in month six and the homepage still says “Lorem Ipsum.” Process is broken; nobody owns the schedule; you’re paying for paralysis.

“Why is this taking so long?”

Launched. Nobody touches it.

The site went live, the agency disappeared, and 18 months later the blog is empty, the team page lists three people who don’t work there anymore, and the contact form has been broken since November. A website is a living asset. Most agencies build them as monuments.

“Is anyone actually managing this thing?”
HOW WE THINK ABOUT WEB DESIGN

Your website is the hardest-working thing in your marketing.

Most agencies treat your website like a one-time project — they design it, hand it over, and move on. We treat it like an instrument that has to keep working. Three things have to be true for the site to actually earn its cost back. It has to show up when your buyers are searching (ranking on Google). It has to turn those visitors into calls and form submissions (converting). And it has to keep working for years without you needing us in the middle of every small change (maintainable). Most agency-built sites get one of those three. We design for all three from day one.

The technical version, if you want it: custom-coded WordPress sites built from scratch on a fast hosting platform, with the search-engine signals coded directly into the site rather than bolted on by a plugin. If you don’t speak that language, you don’t have to — the practical translation is your site loads faster than your competitors, ranks better, and you can hand it to any developer years from now without rebuilding it.

We’re not just describing this — we built our own agency site the same way. UltraWeb Labs runs on the same engineering we ship to clients: code-owned WordPress, Core Web Vitals green, search-engine data built into the site code itself, 1,683 clean redirect rules through the recent rebrand. We eat our own cooking.

  • Your site code is yours from day one — fire us tomorrow, keep your site working
  • Search-engine signals built into the site itself — no SEO plugin that can break or get discontinued later
  • Loads fast on phones at launch — we don’t deploy slow sites
  • Designed to turn visitors into leads — the contact form is visible without scrolling, where it converts 2–3x more often
  • Your team can update copy, swap photos, publish blog posts — no submitting tickets for typo fixes
02

What’s included

01

Built specifically for your business, not from a template

Every part of your site is designed and coded for what your business actually does — not adapted from a generic template thousands of other businesses also use. We build on WordPress (the platform powering 40%+ of all websites worldwide), which means any developer you hire in the future can extend or maintain your site without starting over.

02

Fast on phones at launch — non-negotiable

Two-thirds of your visitors are on phones. If your site takes more than three seconds to load, more than half of them leave before seeing anything. We test mobile speed before deploying and won’t launch a slow site — specifically, we hit Google’s Core Web Vitals targets at launch (the same speed standards Google rewards in search rankings).

03

Search engines understand your site from day one

The way Google reads your pages depends on technical signals coded into the site. Most agencies install an SEO plugin and call it done. We code the signals directly into the site itself, which means they don’t depend on a plugin that could break or get sold off later (Yoast was acquired; your plugin owner doesn’t prioritize your survival). The result: Google understands what every page is about from the first day it goes live.

04

Designed to turn visitors into leads

The contact form on every key page is visible in the first thing visitors see — not buried below the fold or hidden behind a “Get a Quote” button. This isn’t just preference; conversion testing across 100+ South Florida businesses shows form-above-the-fold pages convert 2–3x better than scroll-to-form designs, especially for visitors coming from paid ads.

05

Built so all your visitors can use it

Roughly 15% of your potential customers have some form of disability — vision impairment, motor limitations, screen-reader dependency. A site that doesn’t work for them isn’t just losing those customers; it could also be flagged in an ADA-related demand letter (a real and growing risk in 2026). We build to WCAG 2.2 AA standards — the same standards lawyers check.

06

A real brand system, not template skinning

Your colors, fonts, photography style, and voice all get documented as a system that scales as your business grows. If you have an existing brand guide, we honor it. If you don’t, we build one alongside the site so every future page stays visually consistent — without us having to be involved in every small addition.

07

Your team can edit the site without us

We build with WordPress’s built-in editor (Gutenberg), customized so your team can edit copy, swap images, and publish blog posts directly — no calling us for every small change. You only pay us for new features and structural work, not for fixing typos on the about page.

08

You own everything when the project ends

On launch day you get the site code (in a repository you control), deployment access (in your name), documentation of every custom piece, and a video walkthrough of how everything works. You can self-maintain, hire someone else to manage it, or keep us on retainer — entirely your call. We don’t believe in software you can’t leave.

How we deliver it

  1. 01

    Discovery

A 90-minute conversation with you and our team about your business, your goals, and your current site (if you have one). We’ll also analyze sites you admire, your competitors’ sites, and your existing search data if available. What’s already working that we shouldn’t touch? Where are your buyers actually searching? What does success look like 12 months from now?

Output — Project brief + reference set + content brief per page
  2. 02

    Site map & wireframes

We map out every page on the site (what exists, what’s new, what gets retired), agree on the URL structure (which matters for keeping any existing search rankings you have), and sketch the layout of every key page in low-detail form before any design happens. Everyone signs off on the structure before we move into pretty pictures.

Output — Site map + wireframes + content briefs
  3. 03

    Design & copy

Hi-resolution mockups of every key page. Final copy written. Brand system documented (colors, fonts, photography direction). We design mobile-first because most of your visitors will be on phones, and revise based on your feedback. Your money pages get extra attention — trust signals, comparisons, FAQ, contact options — because those are the pages turning visitors into customers.

Output — Design comps + final copy + brand system
  4. 04

    Build & connect

We code the site from scratch matching your designs. We connect it to your CRM (or set up our UltraSmart system if you don’t have one yet), wire up Google Analytics + Search Console, and configure your existing tools. Every page passes our 17-point launch quality checklist before we even invite you to review.

Output — Staging site + launch checklist passed + accessibility audit
  5. 05

    Launch & measure

We schedule the go-live for a low-traffic window (usually early morning). The day of launch, the site goes live and we monitor for any issues. The week after, we verify Google has found and indexed your new pages, retest mobile speed, and lock in your baseline numbers so we can measure improvement over time.

Output — Live site + post-launch report + care path

What to expect — investment & engagement

Web design is one of the few services that lives in two places. If you want a single asset shipped — a one-time build with hosting handed back to you — sites start at $2,000 and scale with scope (flagship-page count, brand identity work, photography production, integrations). If you want the build folded into ongoing infrastructure (hosting, SEO, content, conversion improvements monthly), it’s included in our Foundation retainer from $549/mo with no separate build fee.

The right path depends on what you’re actually trying to build. A single asset is right when you have a marketing team already running. The retainer is right when the website is supposed to be the marketing function. Either way, we’ll walk both options on the strategy call — no cost, no pitch deck, no obligation to proceed.

Questions people ask us

How long does a new site take?
Eight to fourteen weeks for a typical custom build. Faster on tight scopes (single-pillar service business with brand assets already in hand); longer for multi-pillar engagements with brand identity work, photography production, or migration of legacy content. The variable isn’t us — it’s the speed of decisions and content review on your side. We publish a per-week schedule at week one so you know exactly what’s gating launch.
What technology do you build on?
Custom-coded WordPress sites on Kinsta hosting. No Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Elementor, Divi, or other website-builder shortcuts. We use WordPress because it’s the most widely-used website platform in the world (powering 40%+ of all websites), which means any developer in the future can extend or maintain your site without starting over. We use Kinsta hosting because it’s built for speed and security — both of which Google rewards in search rankings.
Why not Webflow or Framer?
Both are good products for the right use case. Neither is right for SMBs that need to compound SEO traffic over five-plus years across multi-page architectures — Webflow’s CMS limits and Framer’s SEO ceiling become structural problems at scale. WordPress on a custom theme has the longest runway. If you’re shipping a marketing site for a SaaS product, Webflow may actually be the right call — we’ll tell you on the strategy call.
Do we own the code?
Yes — full stop. The theme repo is yours from day one. Deployment access is yours. You can hire a different developer next year and they can extend or modify the site without rebuilding it. We’re not in the business of writing code you can’t take with you.
How does your pricing actually work?
Two paths. One-time builds start at $2,000 and scale with scope (number of flagship pages, brand identity work, photography production, content depth, integrations). Or fold the build into a Foundation, Growth, or Domination retainer ($549/mo and up) where the site is included and ongoing SEO + content + conversion work continues monthly. The strategy call walks both options against what you’re actually trying to do.
What about ongoing maintenance after launch?
Three paths. (1) Self-manage — we hand off documentation and a video walkthrough, your team edits in Gutenberg. (2) Retain us on Foundation, Growth, or Domination — ongoing SEO, content, conversion improvements, technical maintenance. (3) Hand off to your existing developer — we document everything for that handoff. We don’t trap you in a “managed” tier you didn’t agree to.
Can you migrate from Wix / Squarespace / Webflow / another agency?
Yes — most of our builds are migrations. We map every legacy URL to a new URL (or a 301 redirect if it’s being retired), preserve every page that has search equity, and ship the new site with a redirect layer that catches old traffic. We’ve done this at scale, including our own migration from ultrawebmarketing.com to ultraweblabs.com with 1,520 redirects mapping the legacy URL space.
